Ideal for those who recycle more

Our Pay By Weight Service means that households will pay a service charge, and will also pay for every kilo of waste collected in their general waste, recycling, glass and organic waste bins.

More About Pay By Weight

  • Households on this plan will have more control of their waste bill and what they are being charged for.

  • The goal of Pay By Weight is to reduce the amount of waste produced by householders, and improve the management of this waste

  • General waste will incur a higher price per kilo, while there will be a lower price for organic waste, and recycling waste.

Managing Your Bin Weights

In order to help you manage your bills, we’ve set up a Bin Weights Summary section in My Account Online. We want to give you control of your bin charges by helping you identify where you can make positive changes and reduce the amount of household waste.

Quick guide to what goes in each of your bins

Some Other Top Tips to Save You Money

We would like to help you make the transition to Pay By Weight as easy as possible. Here is how you can find out more:

  • Buy products with less packaging – look for loose fruit and vegetables, or items that have the least amount of packaging. If you don’t buy it, you don’t have to bin it.

  • Organic Waste for your brown bin* – if it once grew, it can go in the brown bin. Paper was once a growing tree, making all pizza boxes, paper food wrapping and wine corks organic waste too.

  • Think outside the kitchen – pop a small bin in your bathroom for recyclables such as shampoo bottles and lotions.

  • Avoid single use items i.e. razors, wipes. Invest in a refillable water bottle, coffee cup & lunch box to reduce waste when you are on the move.

  • Don’t forget to use your glass bin* for all your glass sauce jars, jam jars and glass bottles.
